wonderful friday
through the tunnel, light appears
begone beastly week
her hands on her hips
adorned with pink tiara
the princess turns three
into open mouth
leaf, stick, marigold, grass, leaf
baby gardener
haiku suffocate
gasping with mouths full of sand
that falls from my eyes
anticipation
she whispers in the darkness
reciting the steps
red tutu, white tights
so much confidence and joy
tears obscure my view
ballet recital
glorious culmination
of one year’s study
